I was really pleased that Paul, my partner in crime, had driven all the way up from Brighton. It's always better when you have a buddy about too.

The wind had calmed down just a tad from earlier in the week, and the fact it'd gone a little more onshore meant that I didn't have to worry about getting out of my depth.

We spent the next three hours having the most AWESOME time! It was superb...cutting through the waves, hopping off them now and again, holding and sometimes making ground upwind... My turns and rotations still need a fair bot of work, but all in good time. The nice thing with kiting is that when you get dunked, restarting is 100 times easier and quicker than waterstarting a windsurf rig.

Yesterday I looked at a new, smaller board than my beginner's 145. I tried out Paul's 135 board and absolutely loved it... it sliced through the chop much easier than mine, and it was easier to pop up off the water. So it looks like I might be trading mine in... :-)

The sun shone, creating a gorgeous backdrop to the 20 or so kites that were out. All in all it was a fantastic afternoon, and still incredibly mild for 15th December.

Autumn 2006... legendary!
